Monero set a record price of $797.73 on January 14, 2026, according to CoinGecko and The Block. That is more than 3,600 times its all-time low of about 22 cents. Few coins have survived as many delistings and bear markets, which is why Monero price history is one of the most searched XMR topics: people want to know how the coin got here and what actually moves it.
As of October 7, 2026, XMR trades near $555, about 30 percent below that peak and up 73 percent over 12 months. XMRList's live XMR price and volatility page charts two years of daily closes from Kraken, which is the quickest way to see the recent swings for yourself. Here are the milestones that shaped the chart.
April 2014: Monero launches as a fork of the Bytecoin code, with no premine.
The early years: CoinGecko records an all-time low of $0.2162.
January 2018: XMR peaks near $495 at the height of the 2017 to 2018 crypto boom.
May 2021: a new high of about $517.
2024: OKX and Binance delist XMR, and Kraken drops it for EEA customers. Kraken's daily closes show a low of $140.61 on November 15, 2024.
January 2026: XMR breaks its 2021 peak around January 12, then sets its record of $797.73 two days later.
October 2026: about $555, with a market value of $10.4 billion, 13th among cryptocurrencies.
Between 2020 and 2024, ShapeShift, Bittrex, Huobi, OKX and Binance all dropped XMR. Each announcement hit the price, yet trading moved to the exchanges that kept it and to swap services. From the November 2024 low close near $141 to the January 2026 record, XMR gained more than 460 percent.
Monero has rarely moved alone. Its 2018 and 2021 peaks both came during market-wide booms, and its deepest drawdowns followed the crashes that hit almost every coin afterward. When Bitcoin and the broader market sell off, XMR usually falls with them, even when nothing about Monero itself has changed.
Monero's block reward fell steadily until the end of May 2022, when tail emission began: a permanent reward of 0.6 XMR per block, with a block roughly every two minutes. That adds about 0.84 percent to supply a year, a rate that shrinks as the total grows. About 18.8 million XMR are in circulation, according to CoinGecko.
Monero is one of the few coins people use regularly as money. XMRList's July 2026 count found 1,556 services that accept or trade XMR across 93 countries, from web hosts and VPNs to online shops and non-profits. Demand from people who pay with the coin, not only traders, gives XMR a different base from most tokens.
$797.73: the all-time high, set on January 14, 2026 (CoinGecko).
44.4 percent: XMR's gain in August 2026, after 18.2 percent in July and before 5.08 percent in September, according to CoinEdition (October 6, 2026).
73 percent: the one-year price change to October 7, 2026 (CoinGecko).
83.9 percent: XMR's annualized one-year volatility, based on Kraken daily closes.
$129.6 million: 24-hour trading volume across markets on October 7, 2026 (CoinGecko).
Expect big swings: with annualized volatility above 80 percent, monthly moves of 20 percent or more are common, not news.
Check the scope of exchange news: a regional restriction, like Kraken's in the EEA, is not the same as a global delisting.
Compare venues: with most centralized volume on a handful of exchanges, prices can differ slightly from one venue to another.
Do not extrapolate: past prices say nothing reliable about future ones, and this article is not investment advice.
Monero's all-time high is $797.73, set on January 14, 2026, according to CoinGecko. It beat the previous peak of about $517 from May 2021.
CoinGecko lists an all-time low of $0.2162 from Monero's early trading, not long after its April 2014 launch. At October 2026 prices, that is a gain of more than 250,000 percent.
Several forces lined up: a rebound from the 2024 delisting lows, steady demand from people who pay with XMR and a slow-growing supply. A sharp January rally set the record, and a 44.4 percent gain in August led a second-half recovery after the price gave back much of that rise.
About 18.8 million XMR were in circulation in October 2026. There is no hard cap: since May 2022 each block adds 0.6 XMR, which works out to less than 1 percent of supply a year.
Data sites such as CoinGecko and CoinMarketCap show XMR's full history since 2014, and most exchanges that list Monero offer their own charts. For recent moves, a two-year chart of daily closes is easier to read than a decade of data squeezed into one view.
Monero's chart tells the story of a coin that kept its users through every delisting wave, from 22 cents to nearly $800 and back to the mid-$500s. Expect sharp moves in both directions, watch exchange news closely and judge the price by long periods, not single days.
